We
kumiss?

As the Better Cotton Practices Association (IPUD), we have been working since 2013 to ensure that cotton production in Turkey takes a more sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly path.

From farmers in the fields to brands in the ready-to-wear sector, we bring together every link in the cotton supply chain under one roof.

Our aim is not just to set a standard; it is to initiate a comprehensive transformation movement that is socially and environmentally conscious and economically sustainable.

Thanks to the strategic partnership we established with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) in 2014, we are promoting international "Better Cotton" standards in our country.

With this model, which prioritizes the well-being of farmers, the rights of workers, and the balance of nature, we are building the future of Turkish cotton together.

At IPUD, we play not only a supervisory but also a guiding role in cotton production. We collect data at the field level, organize trainings, and support our local stakeholders, making a difference in the following key areas:

Smart Agriculture and Environmental Sustainability

We are bringing technology and nature together to build the agriculture of the future, today:
Precision Agriculture Techniques: We apply scientific methods focused on soil analysis for fertilization, smart irrigation systems, and reducing pesticide use.

Technological Support: We are increasing efficiency in our pilot sites by using climate stations, early warning systems, and digital monitoring tools.

Education, Capacity Building and Digitalization

Continuous Education: We offer regular capacity-building programs for our agricultural engineers and farmers on critical issues such as climate change and soil health.

Data-Driven Management: We analyze the data we collect from the field using digital tools, making our sustainability goals transparent and measurable.

Combating Child Labor

Preventing child labor in cotton farming is one of the most fundamental pillars of our association's work. Our activities in this area encompass a broad field strategy that extends beyond a single project:

Field-Level Intervention: We conduct ongoing awareness and monitoring activities with families, agricultural intermediaries, and employers to prevent children from entering the labor market.

Access to Education: We are developing multifaceted solutions, from educational materials to school support programs, to move children away from the fields and towards school desks.

Industry Standards: We advocate for making "zero tolerance" against child labor a standard at every stage of the cotton supply chain.

Improving the Economic and Social Well-being of Women

We are implementing a multifaceted development agenda to make women's labor in agricultural production visible and to empower them in social life:

Economic Empowerment and Well-being: We aim to increase women's economic income and well-being by enhancing their technical skills in production.

Role in Decision-Making Processes: We support women in having a voice both within the family and in agricultural production processes, and in acquiring leadership skills.

Rights and Awareness: We are creating comprehensive training programs and mobile support areas for women on civil rights, self-confidence development, and access to social rights.
