What is the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)?
BCI, an international non-profit organization, is the world's largest cotton sustainability program. BCI is a multi-stakeholder, international initiative that brings together many different stakeholders, from producers to retailers, to work together to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of cotton production and secure the future of the sector.
To achieve this goal, BCI's approach is to continuously improve agricultural practices by equipping farmers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools. This ensures that farmers achieve production that meets internationally recognized standards in areas such as pesticide use, efficient water management, improved soil health, and enhanced worker welfare.
